SUMMARY:Film Premiere: Spawning Grounds
DESCRIPTION:World Premier of the Film that tells the story of our community coming together to save our little red fish from extinction. There will be raffles\, a silent auction\, and a panel discussion after the film. Beer and wine will be available as well. All the proceeds from this and other showings will go to Trout Unlimited to continue our efforts on behalf of our Lake Sammamish Kokanee.\n\n\n\nAn independent film maker Nils Cowan from Hemlock Productions\, Trout Unlimited\, and members of the Lake Sammamish Kokanee Work Group gather at the premiere of the documentary film "Spawning Grounds: A Rapidly Growing Community's Struggle to Save its Native Little Red Fish." Spawning Grounds is a new feature documentary film that chronicles a critical season in the life of the Lake Sammamish kokanee\, a unique but little-known population of landlocked salmon with immense cultural and ecological importance. The film traces the efforts of Tribal educators\, scientists\, landowners and community leaders to work together to save this rare native salmon - known as the 'Little Red Fish' - amid unprecedented development pressure. Written and directed by an Emmy Award-winning team of filmmakers\, Spawning Grounds captures a unique and hopeful story at the intersection of urban growth and environmental preservation.
