SUMMARY:Search for the Ghost Bear
DESCRIPTION:After extensive research\, experts estimate less than a handful of grizzly bears are left in Washington's North Cascades. Have you ever wondered how scientists search for the last few grizzly bears in Washington?\n\n\n\nYou're invited to join us for an evening with Dr. Bill Gaines\, an expert on grizzly bears.\n\n\n\nDr. Gaines has been the lead biologist organizing epic search parties for the great bear. He's traveled to some of the most remote parts of our state\, and has a story to tell. Together we'll talk about the search for Washington's grizzly bears\, the history that has led to their decline\, and the opportunity to augment the population in North Cascades National Park.\n\n\n\n2010 marks the last sighting in Canada's Manning Provincial Park\, just 15 miles north of Washington's border. For a bear\, that's just a three hour walk away! Despite their best efforts\, we worry that the bears cannot recover without a little help.\n\n\n\nYou're invited to a special evening to learn more and help bring grizzlies back to the North Cascades!\n\n\n\nNote: The event will be held at the King County Library System Service Center located at 960 Newport Way Northwest. The Service Center is not at the same location as the Issaquah Public Library. Please make sure to come to the right place! Thanks\, and sorry for any confusion!
