Great Careers Day
Presented by the Greater Issaquah Chamber of Commerce’s Education Committee
The goal of this event is to educate students within the Issaquah School District, that do not have a means, opportunity or need to attend a four year university, about the future career options after High School. Speakers from various industries in the workforce educate students on career options that are alternatives to a four-year university after high school. Some examples include: HVAC, culinary, video production, cosmetology, etc. This is an opportunity for the businesses in the region to help place future employees into the hiring funnel. The time we spend today opening the minds of these students to future careers will serve us well 3 - 5 years from now when these young adults are ready to enter the workplace.
This year approximately 300 students will spend the day with us hearing from more than 25 different speakers about career options that do not year a four year university degree. Counselors will be on hand to guide students through this learning process, better enabling the counselors to follow up with the students during the course of the school year.
