Parkadilly, kids’ concert, fair & fun at Lake Sammamish State Park
It takes a village to bring a new Eastside festival to Lake Sammamish State Park.
Parkadilly at Lake Sammamish kid’s concert, fair & fun includes many Eastside organizations who are participating in the July 24 event, keeping it free for everyone. Bring your annual Discover Pass or there will be a $10/carload park entry fee.
ArtEast will offer easel painting and print making, while KCLS librarians will offer children’s story times throughout the afternoon. Rhythms of India, a dance school in Redmond, will teach the audience a few Bollywood moves.
REI is offering a kids’ wilderness survival workshop at 2 and 3 p.m. during Parkadilly. The Issaquah Park and Recreation Dept. will lead kids in a baton relay, whiffle ball throw and turbo javelin throw. Springfree Trampoline will let youngsters take a turn jumping, while Eastside Audubon Society provides kids and families with a nature scavenger hunt. Kiwanis club members will grill hot dogs for picnickers.
But the main attraction is on stage, with live back-to-back performances by children’s entertainers Recess Monkey, Eli Rosenblatt and Mikey Mike. Bring your lawn chair or blanket and stay awhile! Guest host Chris Cashman will emcee.
The fun begins at noon and continues until 5 p.m.
Kid-centric vendors will also be on hand, giving parents an opportunity to learn about schools, after-school activities, health care, children’s products, and local non-profits.
Parkadilly is a community celebration hosted by Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park. All proceeds from the event will benefit the $1.1 million all-access destination playground currently under construction. The playground is expected to open in September.
Sponsors of Parkadilly include Windermere East, Virginia Mason Issaquah, Highlands Kids Dentistry and the Issaquah Arts Commission.
