SUMMARY:Introduction to Natural Plant Dyes at Carnation Farms
DESCRIPTION:If you can brew a cup of tea\, you can dye wool! Carnation Farms and Clear Creek Farm have teamed up to bring you a natural dye workshop where you'll learn basic techniques for extracting color from plants onto protein fibers like wool and silk. We'll identify some local plants you can use\, talk about mordants\, and dye sample yarns for you to take home. Plants we'll learn from include onions\, madder\, hollyhock\, dahlias\, with special guest appearances from indigo and lichens. The sample card in the picture is from a dye party with Valley Spinner's Guild in Snohomish. Led by instructor Alexia Allen of Hawthorne Farm.
