Kiwanis Club of Issaquah, the Issaquah branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and the Issaquah Cable TV Commission will co-host a Candidate Forum for city council and school board candidates.The forum is open to the public.
All candidates have been invited to make opening statements. The forum will feature opposed candidates answering prepared questions, with some submitted by the public. The candidates will then have an opportunity to ask their opponent the last question of the forum, before closing statements.
Candidates for Issaquah City Council will face off at 6:30 p.m. They include Lindsay Walsh, unopposed for Position 1; Michele Kemper and Zach Hall for Position 2; Tim Flood and Barbara de Michele for Position 3; Victoria Hunt, unopposed for Position 6.
Candidates for Issaquah School Board include Ann Moore, unopposed for District 1; Harlan Gallinger and Minal Kode Ghassemieh for District 3; Synde Mullings, unopposed for District 4; Suzanne Weaver and Layna Crofts for District 5. Their portion of the forum will begin at 7:50 p.m.
The forum will be moderated by Debbie Berto, retired newspaper publisher and member of Kiwanis, and Judy Rogers, a member of both Kiwanis and AAUW.
Candidate questions for consideration may be emailed by October 5 to ICTV@issaquahwa.gov, or submitted in writing during the forum. Include your name and contact information.
The forum will be repeated daily on Issaquah’s Channel 21 until the Nov. 5 general election and will be available on YouTube to help voters make informed decisions.
