Job Title: Executive Director

Reports to: Board of Directors

Status: Exempt, Full-Time

Location: 1121 228th Ave SE, Sammamish WA 98075 (inside Mary, Queen of Peace)

Compensation: $67,000 – $75,000 base

OUR WORK: Eastside Friends of Seniors (EFS) provides volunteer-based services for seniors facing the challenges of aging. EFS helps the elderly population living in the greater Issaquah and Sammamish communities, enabling them to stay where they really want to be, living independently in their own homes.

JOB SUMMARY: EFS is looking for an inspirational leader to serve as the organization’s Chief Executive, one who is a passionate, talented, and dedicated professional and is committed to addressing the needs of seniors while fostering a culture of staff and volunteer engagement.

It is important that the ED has excellent organizational skills and can manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Candidates must have experience with fundraising, volunteer development, and program, operations, and administrative management.

The ideal candidate will have donor development and direct fundraising experience, knowledge of fiscal budgets, excellent management and communication skills, knowledge of senior aging issues, and the ability to move the organization into the future, and comfortable in an extremely public role, including public speaking engagements, partner and sponsor recruitment, and media relations.


Development, Communications, and Outreach

  • Fundraising and cultivating relationships with foundations, government funders, and major donors to grow revenue.
  • Creates and executes annual development plan to include detailed tracking and reporting.
  • Actively collaborates with other similar and partner agencies for the purposes of program development.
  • Provide regular, ongoing communications for marketing and promotion
  • Makes presentations about the organization to key stakeholder groups.
  • Serves as the organization’s “face” and spokesperson, being comfortable in the public lime-light.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to Board of Directors and all committees

Program Development, Administration, and Financial Management

  • Supports and maintains the vision, mission, and strategic goals of EFS.
  • Creates the annual business plan in collaboration with staff and the Board of Directors, and provides quarterly reports detailing quarterly goal progress on the goals.
  • Develops and sustains effective relationships with the Board of Directors and Committees/Task Forces.
  • Responsible for employee hiring, supervision, and evaluation.
  • Oversees Client Services Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator, Data Service Coordinator, Administrative and Event Coordinator to ensure successful EFS programs operation.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in nonprofit management, volunteer-based programs, and senior care.
  • Works with the Board to develop and monitor the agency budget, financial health of EFS, manages financial vendors, approves payroll, and maintains insurance.
  • Oversees accounts receivable/payable, payroll, taxes, audits, banking transactions, and tax and 990 preparations.
  • Oversees the record-keeping and filing of all organizational documents.


The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job.

  • Proven success in fundraising and donor development.
  • Experience in human services, business, public administration, non-profit, or any combination of education and experience which would provide the candidate with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the job.
  • Knowledge of the challenges of aging that seniors face each day.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of funding resources and strategies, and demonstrated success writing, receiving, and managing grant funding.
  • Demonstrated management experience relating to human resources, budget development and oversight, and program administration.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of individuals, including program volunteers, Board Members, staff, senior clients and families, local congregational groups, service groups, elected and governmental officials, and members of the media.
  • Ability to establish goals and objectives, set priorities, monitor programs, and recommend necessary adjustments.
  • Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to create a safe and welcoming environment for all staff, clients, volunteers, and board members.
  • High level of proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite software and database applications.
  • Ability to learn new technology and software programs.


  • 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Previous non-profit experience


  • Ability to work with confidential information.
  • Comfort with high-level donors and organizational leadership.
  • Ability to adapt and adjust to changing needs.
  • Commitment to and enthusiasm for EFS’s mission and values.
  • Ability to lead and motivate staff members while keeping them accountable.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.


While performing the duties of this job the employee is in an office environment, and is required to regularly walk, sit, talk, or hear and occasionally stand. Frequent use of computers and related equipment is required. This position allows for flexibility and occasional remote work.
