Invites Pedestrians to Dine, Shop and Experience Front Street in a New Way
ISSAQUAH, Wash., July 21, 2026 – This August, Historic Downtown Issaquah is inviting the community to slow down, linger a little longer, and experience Front Street like, well, a playground.
The Downtown Issaquah Association (DIA) is bringing back Al Fresco on Front, a month-long program that transforms Front Street into a lively pedestrian playground every weekend in August. The concept first debuted in 2020 as The Streatery, providing expanded outdoor dining during the COVID-19 pandemic. It returned in 2021 to continue supporting local restaurants, businesses, and the community, and now it’s back to create a vibrant, walkable, and fun-filled experience.
In a partnership between DIA and the city of Issaquah, beginning August 1, Saturday mornings at 8 a.m. and continuing through Sunday evenings until 10 p.m., Front Street will be closed to vehicle traffic between Sunset Way and Dogwood Street, creating a welcoming space where people—not cars—take center stage.
Al Fresco on Front is designed to showcase what's possible when downtown becomes a place to gather, explore, and connect. Playground programming will be scheduled between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. during those weekends.
Ample parking will be available during the Front Street closure, thanks in part to La-Z-Boy Home Furnishings and Decor in Issaquah. Park in their lot, stop by the showroom to have your parking validated, and then enjoy a car-free Front Street. While you're at La-Z-Boy, browse their selection of recliners, sofas, mattresses, and stylish home décor.
Throughout the month, visitors to Al Fresco can expect
